Top 5 Travel Instagrammers You Need to Follow

Whether you’re looking for a source to inspire your gap year, a summer holiday or just trying to daydream your way out of a Monday morning lecture; Instagram is the place to be. There is no doubt that travel Instagrammers do an amazing job providing us with breath taking views of the world, however with more and more people sharing their travels on Instagram these days, it can sometimes prove tricky to find the accounts you have to keep up to date with.

So, to help you out with this very tricky dilemma we have picked five accounts we think should make it on your following list this year:

1. garethford93

i1

Travelling currently: Australia and New Zealand

Amount of followers: 141 followers

With a low number of followers and Ford strictly not labelling himself as a “travel Instagrammer” it may be hard to see at first why this is a need to follow account.

However, from photos of the highest peak in New Zealand to the cutest snaps of wildlife, this Instagram account will make you want to jump on a plane and venture to the other side of the world. So, make sure you jump on the bandwagon of this underrated traveller before all your friends do.

2. backpackersguidetothegalaxy

i2

Travelling currently: Europe and Asia

Amount of followers: 3588 followers

Getting a bit more recognition than the latter, this account is still not receiving the attention it deserves. Lucy and Pat are students who travel the world living on just 50 Australian dollars a day, which works out to be around £25…. crazy right? But, what’s even crazier is the fact that this tight budget isn’t stopping them from seeing the most beautiful places in the world.

If you’re looking to get inspired by some of the best cities in the world, marvel at inspiring architecture and impressive monuments, make sure to check these guys out.

3. natgeotravel

i4

Travelling currently: Not Specific

Amount of followers: 9.7M followers

Acting as a hub for adventurers across the world and just like the National Geographic channel we all grew up watching, this account opens your eyes to the beauty of the wild. If you’re currently in the process of making travel plans, Natgeo’s Instagram profile will have you internally debating on where to go first.

This account has the undeniable ability of making you remember how beautiful and big the world really is.

4. worldwanderlust

i

Travelling currently: France

Amount of followers: 426k followers

If you haven’t already heard of Brooke than just thank me later as she is definitely one of the biggest names in travel blogging. From a traditional home in Amsterdam to iconic structures in Paris, Brooke will introduce you to some of the most spectacular sights in the world.

The girl has a knack for taking amazing photos and when it gets to snaps of her food or coffee, we guarantee that it will make you die of envy and you will not stop scrolling for days! I don’t know how she does it, but she can make a croissant look like art….

5. geckosadventures

i3

Travelling currently: Not Specific

Amount of followers: 11.1k followers

Last but definitely not least, our final need to follow Instagram account is actually a tour company. Geckos Adventures are dedicated to guiding 18-30 year olds around the world but these guys are not only the masters of guiding but apparently are also the masters of awesome snaps. From the mountains of India to the oceans of Maldives, these guys will give you a serious case of wanderlust for places far, far, away.

  1. Hey Abbie, I highly recommend Jess Bonde. He’s a guy I met on a walk in tassie this year. Him and his gf are constantly travelling to some pretty sweet places in the world and he is a great photographer so there are always high quality photos to look at. Currently in Scandinavia.

  2. Hi Abbie,

It’s Lucy here from thetraveltextbook.com which was formerly Backpacker’s Guide To The Galaxy. Just as an update, my Instagram account is now @traveltextbook instead of @backpackersguidetothegalaxy 🙂

    Thank you!
